Objectives

The main objective of this project is the development of a digital framework for calculation and mapping of the land suitability to crops and land use, based on GEOBIA technique.

The secondary objectives are:

1. Development of a digital tool based on the proposed framework.

2. Application of the digital tool to evaluate land suitability at regional and local scale.

3. Conduct LS assessment by the existing mapping units: pixels and conventional soil map units.

4. Quantitative evaluation of the LS assessments by the three mapping units: digital GEOBIA tool, pixel-based and conventional soil map unit.

The hypothesis of this research is that the automatic and objective delineation of mapping units using GEOBIA lead to faster, more accurate and more reliable LS assessment than conventional soil map units and pixel based approach.
